Ay ay ay, You could have been really hurt...you're SO lucky that nothing else worse happened and that you could come here and post about it. I agree that you should speak to your attorney about the airbags. Ford has a history of ignoring reports of safety issues (think of the tires on Explorers a while back) -- not for the money, necessarily, but for the sake of people who may have passengers in their cars in the future, you should alert Ford about the failed airbags in a way they can't ignore. Were you going fast enough for there to be an impact that would register on their sensors, though?

I am glad to see that you are fine! We do not get the icy stuff in Houston very often but I have slid enough times to know the feeling of a car skating on ice. I never realized just how fast and far a car can slide on icy roads... about 15 years ago in my High School days I purposely made my car slide on a long deserted road just to check out the icy conditions (rare down here). I slid about 100 yards on a straight road until I came to the very end of the road where it was blocked off by an "end of road" barrier. I stopped less than 2 feet from that barrier in pure disbelief.... I did not expect such a long and fast slide. God was with me that day because it was cold, cell phones were non existent and I was on an unused icy road that no one ever traveled. Had I crashed I would have been stuck in the mud on the other side of that barrier. My pops would have killed me for killing the car... and we did not have air bags in most cars back then... especially in a 1976 Cutlas. Anyway, since that day I do not take any chances on icy roads. Sorry about your car mwjoy. I am very glad to see that you were unharmed.

Good luck with the insurance company!
Best wishes!

OT: mwjoy: Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like your OK so that's the most important. Sounds like you got full coverage though so you'll be fine.

Nerve racking, I'm sure and sucks though in the short term. Been there before. More times that I care to remember. Been a good boy though since I had my boy (and girl). Funny how things work out that way.

Glad to hear nobody was hurt.
