Asteroid mining is the ultimate step. A single iron-nickel asteroid one mile in diameter represents more metal than has been mined in all of recorded history. In space there are unlimited mineral resources and no territorial boundaries. Sandy beaches, friendly bartenders and sympatica chicas however are in short supply.
