Sure there is - AMD is the only one of the three with success at volume manufacturing of powerful PC CPUs. Granted, it's not Intel's volume, but it beats IBM and TI hands down.

I didn't mean to take anything away from "beloved" AMD, in fact included them in the mix. My point was that Intel has the same options that AMD has and vv, but chooses to use a slightly different process that assumedly has a lower cost.
