I agree with the theory that the first round of the JDZ was more about learning the lay of the land and getting to know the geology. I mean the JDZ is so huge, so its understandable to come to that conclusion. Another big hint to that theory is that they did drill quite shallow compared to blk 1. Its also the perfect setup for Sinopec to be incredibly vague and play the game they've been playing.

Another huge hint IMO is that this whole time STP seems to be quite comfortable with whats been going on as they haven't criticized Sinopec in any way that I've seen... not to mention dealing directly with a subsidiary of Sinopec for an EEZ block.. not something you'd do after a company screwing with your country's greatest potential asset. It ain't over IMO.

As I recall...the company response to the depth of drilling was that if they thought that it would have been fruitful to drill deeper...they would have.
