Yeah, but I've never seen one fail.
...Our youngest daughter worked at All-Glass aquariums for awhile, she was the "Octagon Specialist", lol. No one else wanted to do those, most of the PPL made messyer seams.
...If one was likely to fail, it'd be this last, biggest one. Way more pressure at the bottom of that water-colume.
Now I guess they are cast acrylic, the company that merged with AllGlass do it that way, cheaper.
