Crayola is just the start. One of the still untapped sources of plastic waste is Medical waste. Apparently several pounds of plastic waste is generated by each person each year. Something in the range of 7 pounds.
The way JBI process works it is ideal for getting rid of this type of waste and now with the premelt it would be easier to sort out the metal parts, like the needles.
The medical industry spends a lot of money each year disposing of it's waste and I bet they would love to have someone take it off their hands.
Also with the kids getting in on the action I don't think it will be long before we see the schools separating out their clean plastic from the food encrusted plastic. Apparently it really stinks to handle some of the house hold plastic that has rotted food on it.
I was in a Tim Horton's the other day and I was amazed by just how much plastic they go through in a very short period of time. I don't drink coffee but the quarter mile in front of my property, that I help keep clean, gets a lot of Tim's caps and straws, ect.
I was just listening to Jim Kramer on TV and he was talking to a company about the green thing. Companies and individuals are getting big on getting GREEN and keeping it that way.
Once we get the movement on the way, as we have, it will be an avalanche of suitable plastic coming our way.
I think we should consider changing the color of our machines from black to GREEN. They are already green in so many ways it is getting hard to keep track of it all. I especially like the GREEN folding kind that I can spend.
Saving the world and making money doing it one crayon, one pound, Millions of tons at a time.
