j3pflynn, so did I but I figured the part in front of it added a bit of context. Does make you curious doesn't it?

"because what they're working on for next year is phenomenal."

No guesses yet ?
How about ...

1) Blades for consumer-PCs/Clients/Workstations ?

- AMD makes a low-enegry blade to slot into a any Blade-mobo
- Mobo makers get new business
- Chipset makers get new business
- Intel left wondering what has happend !

Could be used from thin clients, to std-PC , ro Workstation

2) Video-Decoding Chip as 3rd. core in CPU-chip ?

ATI has done a graphic card where Video-decoding runs 100x faster than an FX cpu. Special software provided to use the GPU rather than the CPU.

.. just for starters ?

it would be a mistake for them to think AMD is going to sit back and wait, because what they're working on for next year is phenomenal."

I like the sound of the part I underlined!

LOL, Sun has been "working on phenomenal" processors for
the last 10 years. However they seem no closer to shipping
now than 10 years ago.

Given that AMD will deliver neither a new microarchitecture
nor 65 nm products "for next year" I suspect these comments
are 99% largely bravado and marketing hype. However feel
free to raise your expectations sky high. AMD enthusiast
backlash and recrimination is amusing to behold.
