MM'e execute orders. Someone places a large order on the bid, which may cause others to buy on the ask. In reality, the party who placed the large order on the bid is also selling on the ask. And, if someone tries to bidwhack the large order on the bid, the party will cancel the buy order and the big (fake) bid disappears. Thats the best way I can explain it.
