FDA ~ "no sound scientific studies"

Marijuana is listed in schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), the most restrictive schedule. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which administers the CSA, continues to support that placement and FDA concurred because marijuana met the three criteria for placement in Schedule I under 21 USC. 812(b)(1) (e.g., marijuana has a high potential for abuse, has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, and has a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision).

In my life time I have never seen someone smoke a joint and then cause violence in this world. I have however seen many people addicted to FDA approved medications go out a kill their grandparents and cause other violence in this world. Read the news. It happens on a daily basis in this country. Does this make the FDA correct on their analysis of medications?

Furthermore, there is currently sound evidence that smoked marijuana is harmful. A past evaluation by several Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and National Institute for Drug Abuse (NIDA), concluded that no sound scientific studies supported medical use of marijuana for treatment in the United States, and no animal or human data supported the safety or efficacy of marijuana for general medical use.
There are alternative FDA-approved medications in existence for treatment of many of the proposed uses of smoked marijuana.

Do you know that the FDA kept turning down the cure for breast cancer and would not continue a study on it until one of the head honchos mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and then out of fear of losing his mother continued the study. Sad....huh? Took this to get the cure pushed through. Now there are many many women walking around cancer free because someones mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kind of scary to think that many women would be dead if this guy wasn't afraid to lose his mother. The FDA doesn't always hold the publics best interest when determining if a drug should be pushed through or not. Sometimes they have their own agendas. You would be surprised what people will do when they are faced with their own ailments in their lifetime. Things change quickly
