Cause and effect are what make sense to me. Understanding principles leads to a comprehension of probabilities. I tend think the nature of consciousness quantifies experience. I think a people with little sense of history are a weakened people. I think we are suffering a bad case of collective planetary amnesia. I think we have few very key and critical concepts badly skewed and wrong on the social, economic, planetary, and scale of general reality. I think our actions due to those misunderstandings are going to have wide-spread devastating results. It's simply formulaic, once you move past a certain level of mutability, results are largely fixed. Pull stable soil out from under a pile of rubble and boulders and eventually they all come down. The simple mathematics of probability.

Stories of old are told to remind us of the past so we know how to deal with or might avoid similar problems.

Just like the Sea Gypsies of Aceh Banda, Indonesia. Only they knew to run for the hills when the seas pulled out in 2004. Or the ancient markers which told the Japanese people not to live below these indicators. Modern people ignored them and lost everything or died in the tsunami all while claiming "What are the chances?"

Now we know. History is good teacher to those who listen and a cruel but heartless in practical application for those who do not.
