Why buy at the current price when you can get it for lower?
I'm not trying to be a dick, but this is the stock market. The main goal is to buy low and sell high. Even if you are long the concept is the same. Eventually you will either sell or pass your stocks onto someone else.
As long as there are MMs and shorts it will always be like this. It's actually a good thing though because without them you would see wild swings and nothing would stay consistent...
Don't worry, in due time you won't be complaining about the current trading activity :)
