If there is no excessive pre-market activity, the ask-price during pre-market and after market says nothing IMO. The real ask price doesn't show up until market opens. And when it does, when there is no one bidding the ask price and volume is low it still says nothing ;-)

But when volume is there and people are willing to bid high......
