Myself and my cousins often had better returns than my uncle or grandparents, and yes, we would also hit the paddocks before every race.

I was a fast learner on reading the program (thanks Grandpap) so I would couple my DD skills on the DRF with what is intuited from listening to horse language. Yes, horses do have a unique way of communicating their emotions, which are quite similar to human emotions in so many ways. You can know when they are confident, pissed off, nervous, nonchalant, etc etc.

As a young boy my cousins and I particularly enjoyed collecting the fallen apples from the trees in great grandmas backyard in bushels and feeding them to the race horses in the barns.

Then they would give us the hot tips...
