The reason companies forward split is to make a stock more affordable to buy to make it more liquid. No need for a penny stock to become more affordable to make it more liquid. The only reason they are doing it was to convince naive investors they were getting something for nothing so the insiders could dump shares into the hype as evident by that artfully drafted PR where they tried to make it like it was a dividend instead of a stock split.
