Unfortunately...that may be exactly what is needed/required. The Russian's have a saying that means essentially: A government/society...rots from the head/top down. Seems to apply here in the US too.

Why would it shatter the markets? It first should shatter the cushey lives of the crooks who drive high end cars and live in multi-million dollar houses. We need to go after the ill gotten gains of those who've been selling us the air shares. That's a good place to start. With a fully transparent market these scumbags will no longer be needed to act as the grease that keeps our economy rolling. And if you're worried about the government stepping in to bail us all out of this hole, I'd be more than happy to pitch in towards some new prisons to house the cowards.
