The funny thing about the catalyst is that Bordynuik admitted long ago that the one he allegedly found on some old computer tape is not the one he ended up using. The original catalyst ws rejected by IsleChem because it contained "uglies". The catalyst that has been endlessly hyped was actually selected by IsleChem.

Just a WAG, but I think it's just a common refinery catalyst. These can be purchased cheaply whereas a custom formulation would be much more expensive when purchased in the small quantities required by JBI's dysfunctional micro-brewery.
