My comment about "lawyer time" was not simply about lawyers paid by the hour having an incentive to stretch things out.
There is also the fact that their world is inherently one of delays and postponements.
Most importantly, lawyers are trained to seek precision and really work the details exhaustively. In almost any other profession, deadlines at some point trump precision and "done is better than perfect".
