Re: Rambus did a much better prior art search than Alberta Telecommunications.
That doesn’t surprise me. Grover cites 4,862,158 Keller, 4,998,262 Wiggers, 4,761,799 Arragon & 4,481,647 Gombert. I see one amended prior art listing after the initial filing March 30, 1989 it’s the Wiggers HP patent.
On the Rambus patents be sure when searching you include both Paul and Michael Farmwald in your search or you'll miss some. IN/Farmwald-$ Looks like Paul wrote many of them and I missed them my first go around.
IN/Farmwald-$ and Rambus
Let’s see here Heller is in mentioned in 34 Rambus patents starting with the 703. It reads like it should be mentioned in the Grover patent. “Transmitting electrical signals with a transmission time independent of distance between transmitter and receiver” You will notice it was still in application when Rambus found it as well. Is evident some of these can be missed in the prior art searches.
4,247,817 Inventors: Heller; Lawrence D. Filed: May 15, 1978 approved January 27, 1981
JMKel, The question is are you going to enlighten some of your board mates with your findings?
