hahahaha Wisconsins own David Zucker does it again...thx for sharing

It was a laugh a minute as David Zucker and Robert Hays introduced the new summer tourism ad for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism at the Wisconsin Governor's Conference on Tourism on Monday morning in Madison.

Zucker is a Shorewood native and director of "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" movies. This is the second ad he's directed for Travel Wisconsin, following the winter ad that featured members of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra getting into a snowball fight. This time, he brought along "Airplane!" star Hays.

The ad, which includes music but no dialogue, features Hays getting ready for an afternoon of fishing. It starts badly with Hays getting hit in the face with a metal bucket and devolves from there. At one point he's flying through the air after an impromptu ride on an inner tube trailing a speedboat. It ends with Hays crash landing on a dock, surrounded by four young women in bikinis -- and a fish slapping him in the face with its tail.

"It doesn't take any special skills to enjoy Wisconsin," a voice-over says. "Just drop in."

The ad aligns with the Department of Tourism's marketing emphasis on "fun." Hays and Zucker participated for a nominal fee, said Stephanie Klett, secretary of tourism. The ads will start airing in Midwest markets in May.

Laughlin Constable, Milwaukee, is the marketing agency of record for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism.

In a news conference following the release, Zucker and Hays announced they plan to reunite for another Wisconsin tourism ad, this time featuring aerial views of Wisconsin in summer and winter. Hays will be filmed in a plane cockpit -- alluding, of course, to "Airplane!" -- in a Los Angeles filming studio. The ad will air starting in winter 2014.

Zucker's brother, Jerry Zucker, has also filmed a commercial for the department to air this fall featuring Green Bay Packer Jordy Nelson.

The release of the commercial included a bonus behind-the-scenes feature that the department hopes will go viral on the Internet. In the "mockumentary," Klett and deputy tourism secretary David Fantle try to get cameos in the commercial, but Zucker and Gov. Scott Walker are determined not to let that happen. (Klett, or her voice at least, does eventually make it into the commercial doing the voice-over.)
