the phone has nothing to do with it - it could be either one of two things - you now have VOIP so it doesn't work with that, or your battery is dead and you didn't know it - I was out of power for six days during the hurricane. I was able to use the landline the first day off the battery. After that I was still able to access my voicemail from my cell, so anyone trying to contact me was able to leave messages on my home voicemail even though there was no power.
