#55013 RE: downsideup #55011

But, "superior to silk worm silk"... with natural limits that mean it can't ever be improved to "comparable to that of natural spider silk" just isn't as good as fibers whose "tensile strength is comparable to that of natural spider silk" that can be improved over time to EXCEED the qualities of the natural product.

Yet you have the word of a CEO and KBLB has the word of the national academy of science. Who should we believe??? hmmmmm

Amsilk has silk that "can be improved over time to EXCEED the qualities of the natural product."

That is a lie straight from the CEO of amsilk. It MAY be improved but CAN be???
If it CAN be it WOULD be. Amsilk seems to be dishonest about what they are saying...

KBLB does not need to worry about being comparable to spider silk they have already EXCEEDED it.

AMsilk has yet to produce anything that hasnt been done before by the KBLB team.
Who do you think invented the goo that AMsilk is making?

1998 Arcidiacono, S., Kaplan, D.L. & et al.[77] "Purification and characterization of recombinant spider silk expressed in Escherichia coli"

Gee who does that guy work with?

LOL Amsilk and the argument for it is a total joke. A beginner with an hour to spare and the ability to type the words spider silk could blow the amsilk argument out of the water.

That a protein is "produced consistently with its native structure" and "will bring its native characteristics to the silk fiber"... doesn't address the issue. It just means you can put spider silk proteins into the mix... which they did with one protein, and used that to SUGGEST it would work with all others.

So lets use what was actually said.

This suggests that any other foreign protein fused into modified H-chain protein will be produced consistently with its native structure and will bring its native characteristics to the silk fiber of the transgenic silkworm.

The quote clearly states that A spider protein fused into the silkworm at that point will produce consistent silk with native spider characteristics.
But unlike Amsilks CEO they say it SUGGESTS because they refuse to say it CAN until it DOES. PNAS article doesnt suggest it they prove it.

IMO it would be foolish for this argument to continue. I personally have better things to do then repeat the DD I have already done. Anyone who wants to read the DD can and should before they attempt to discuss the facts.
If you want to get this topic to move forward you need to find something to quote besides Amsilks self pump.
