What do they have left that's a hard asset? I think all they have left at this point is IP and blue sky. That IP has transfer restrictions that limit it's value as well and the blue sky is filling up with dark clouds.

I was surprised by that charge too. AMD has been in the Austin campus for two decades. So I would expect the market value to far exceed the book value, which should be the 20 year old purchase price less 20 years of depreciation. Maybe the Austin commercial real estate situation is dire, and AMD was desperate, and the purchaser got a real good deal.
