Personally, I do not underestimate any testosterone market, particularly its penetration. Meaning, I don't underestimate the again male population and their desire to maintain. Every time I bring up the internet, I see on the right side of my screen some add showing a pretty girl with the heading, got low testosterone? And I hear plenty of "on-air" commercials on Cable these days.

Silly analogy, but forgive me for a second, what's more testosterone manly than injecting yourself in the friendly confines of your bathroom - safely and conveniently and subcutaneously or with a potion that you rub on?

Regarding the current injectables - I'm not that schooled in that subject. But aren't the current injectables intramuscular? QS-T would be Subcutaneous, so QS-T would be another route switch.

QST will be a SQ injection.

GEL - The advantage of SQ over the gels is that some men don't achieve therapeutic levels with the gel. In addition, its much easier taking a weekly injection then rubbing the gel on every day. You also have concerns of the gel being transferred to your partner or children by contact.

Oral - Testosterone has poor absorption in the gastrointestinal tract which leads to variable blood levels & some doctors think it harms the liver. Oral testosterone is expensive.

IM injections - painful, normally given every other week which results in peaks & troughs in the blood levels. Lots of people have trouble giving themselves an IM injection due to the needle size & length needed so they have to go to the docs office every other week. Testosterone is available 200mg/ml for IM injection. It will be interesting to see if ATRS uses a different formulation designed for SQ administration like 200mg/.5 ml as they did with methotrexate.

If a doctor prescribes QST then there's really little an insurance company could do except pay for the drug since there's no alternative. I can't see much push back even at $100 a week.
