iHub has been a dictatorship

Hello!!!? It ain't a democracy...it never was...even (especially?) when Matty was The Man...and it doesn't appeared to have suffered...their sandbox, their rulz...I am sure there is a lot that peeps don't like about the site...you need to weigh the pros & cons and then decide if it works for you OR make it work for you like what MEATHEAD SUGGested as to what a sticky should be...or any of the other rulz that offend you...

It is indeed a benevolent dictatorship, as is every interactive website that exercises any manner or form of control.

We had many meetings of the website management over many months to discuss this problem and possible, practical solutions. There was nothing arbitrary or rash about it.

There are 6 sticky posts allowed now, if there are 6 moderators and if each moderator elects to place a sticky. Expanding the stickies to 6 without limiting each moderator to one would have accomplished nothing; mods would have done what they did previously which was to fill the stickies so as to exclude other moderators from doing so. That required administrative intervention in controlling what was sticked by whom and when, and what was removed by whom and when. That is no longer required; each moderator has an exclusive sticky and nobody else can preempt or remove it. To an objective viewer, that results in far more individual control and far less "dictatorial" intervention than before.

Now Dave PM's, give's me the list of notes I had and expects me too go back and spend no doubt 20 hours or more sifting through my database of image because I can't copy/paste images from these posts. They weren't just any image, they were images of that days/week/month values that can't be replicated.

No, I provided you with a list of all of your stickies so that you could elect to place a sticky a post that consolidated links to any of the previously stickied posts that you still deemed worthy. All of the posts that were in those stickies are still there and can still be promoted. See this post for an example. You would not have to go back and search for anything.

I did not say that we were going to auto-expire stickies. I sad that we had discussed it, not implemented it or that we were going to implement it.

Message boards are about posts and discussion, not about iBoxes and Stickies. When iBoxes and Stickes become the primary "issue" the board, the discussion has gone off the rails.

I know what you mean.

Last night I expressed skepticism about a company having $20 million in revenues. I was informed by a board moderator that it was "in the sticky note".

If he had control over four stickies instead of just one, the company would have $80 million in revenue.

In my house, I'm a dictator.

But then, I'm single.
