#96827 RE: rubber duck #96825

all I know is, I got two friends who own Apple stock, one with 100 shares, the other with 150 shares, and I was telling them last year when AAPL hit $600-$650 to sell...why? Well because Samsung and other competitors will continue to copy Apple's products and make them just as good for cheaper, and in emerging markets such as Asia/China where the most growth is...that's crucial, because sure most people in emerging markets want Apple products for the brand name/quality and to be apart of Steve Job's Vision, but at the end of the day it often comes down to price...and when you buy a Samsung/HTC or another handset that uses Android, it's going to work well enough for the cheap price.

Apple needs to make cheaper phones for emerging markets and lower-end consumer to prevent the Android platform from completely taking over and to prevent Samsung from getting stronger...

Also...the other reason why I told my friends to sell at $600ish is Apple's market cap...sure AAPL is cheap at $700 on a valuation basis, but I think that market cap was almost $700 Billion when the stock was around $700/share...and sure $1,000/share wouldn't be too expensive either, but once you get a market cap around the $500+ billion range, it's not as easy to move higher

A guy I work with has 40 shares of Apple and I was telling him the same stuff...I interviewed last fall in September for a wealth management internship and the owner of the firm was also super bullish on AAPL and had a big position and I told him the same thing I told the other three during my interview, and guess what, I found out he sold his AAPL position around $500 a month or two ago lol...

If I were a AAPL share holder and had 100 shares or so, I'd SELL at $550 and forget about it...
