Underground Solutions (UGSI) had an “outstanding” year in 2012, as revenues increased by more than 30%, while operating expenses decreased, according to the annual shareholder letter sent out by CEO Andy Seidel earlier this week.

Increased take-up of the company’s core fusible PVC pipe product is expected to be further supported by the issuance of revised installation standards by the American Water Works Association later this year, which will for the first time specifically reference fused joints as an acceptable design for joining PVC pipe, Seidel wrote.

Although the contribution from the acquisition of Siemens’ ChemFeed business was not included in the 30% revenue increase outlined above, Seidel revealed that UGSI was able to beat its pro forma projections relating to the acquisition after only five months.

“We are ramping up sales each month [and] we look forward to positive earnings contribution from UGSI ChemFeed in 2013,” he told investors.
