#5258 RE: Mechatronical #5248

I do understand the FOV and how update rates can affect the overall efficiency of the systems. Gen1 FLIR on the AH-64 could not keep up with UH-60’s flying goggles. Refresh rates were to slow and the led array was to small to build the image quick enough. The new FLIR system has doubled the LED array which in turn allows the image to build at double the rate while improving the overall picture from what once was comparable to flying PNVS-5’s on a no moon night with visibility less than 3 miles. Now they can actually see outwards of 4KM and identify what they are looking at over just a generic image form.

Now what we are looking at for SAA is a sensor that can see or echo the target much like a radar detector. Regardless of the refresh rate I still think you will have some picketing. Trick being is to have an overlap to cover the picket holes.

All is true. Physics is a requirement for flight but I have used duct tape to repair and get them home also. Hence my firsthand knowledge of the many uses. Hope you don’t wander too far. It caused me to wander all over this globe.
