ROFL!!!! The government is WORLD-FAMOUS for giving money to sinkholes. In fact, that seems to be their hellbent goal!
Trillions of dollars over the years has been sunk into alternative renewable energy that doesn't work, a huge portion of that from the US government that continues to this very day with all sorts of government subsidies, RIN credits, tax breaks, loans, grants, etc. etc. etc.
That said, I do agree that a profitable JBII would have easier and more access to government aid. But before that they certainly aren't forbidden. If it were true that the government only waited for viable energy projects to prove themselves before giving aid, then there would never be any aid given in the first place to wind farms, solar farms, tax credits for hybrid vehicles, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
