Bingo !! You are right. Stockholders in the pink world will run like their tails are on fire at the mere mention of a R/S. We've all been burned in the past.
One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is that after the split, it can take a LONG time before your broker will make those shares in your account available to trade. While you are waiting, "someone" will be selling.
