I think that allowing the western third of north dakota to be a sacrifice zone for oil that is mostly exported sucks. Piping it to texas so it can be more easily sent to europe just doesn't seem right to me. More of the cash profits of exporting needs to go to funding non-fossil energy and R&D.
Turning us back into a resource colony of other countries twists me up a bit.

Speaking of blizzards, the all-time corker in my experience was the march blizzard of 1966. The snow on the northern plains blew so hard that the interchanges on the Interstate highways stopped snow such that it plugged solid up to the overpass roadway decks. We had to crawl out a second story window to get out of the house. Pheasants would turn their back to the wind and their nostrils would freeze shut as the temperature dropped, they would suffocate and fall on their faces, their long tails sticking straight up in the air from snowdrifts lining the shelterbelts.

Passenger trains got stuck and made for complicated rescues. The newly developing snowmobiles mostly all got pressed into service delivering 5 gallon cans of heating oil to those that ran out. Todd Palin could have actually done something constructive with his life for once.
