Silver was removed back in 1964 on US coins 49 years ago. There was a good reason for this, as the government knew we were running low. Whenever I would go to the bank as a kid to deposit my fathers weekly paycheck, which I did every week, I used to look in their change bin. I would buy 50 cent peices, and quarters and dimes they had under 1964. Not many were interested back in the 80's, and most never checked the dates on change, they just considered it change lol. Actually bought a couple Morgan Silver dollars during that period, right from the tellers change bin.
