pn.....while there is truth in this statement, it ignores the basic problem:

Our society doesn't want smaller government.
We couldn't handle the responsibility of maintaining every facet of our complex life.
Our social order would collapse.

and, the basic problem is: the statement ignores the fact that government exists in levels....from local/municipal then county and state and up thru federal...

our social disfunction and demise is a byproduct of the consolidation and usurpation of power from the lower levels into a sprawling, inefficient, inept, and intentionally wasteful centralized bureaucracy.

The inept centalized bureaucracy then wields its legislative power across the nation in a uniform fashion that is insensitive to needs and nuances of the different regions and levels.

Our nation was designed to be a republic with good reason.....

now, we watch the collapse of our social order and the demise of the nation at the hand of the same government which the ignorant, clamoring masses have been duped into believing will provide for them and "save" them.
