#27229 RE: stanu78 #27154

stanu78: I sometimes travel to Europe as I did this spring when I visited Paris for 10 days and used internet cafes and a hotel PC to enter trades. But I used only one of my brokerage accounts and changed my password frequently on the more trusted hotel computer. But I was wary of the risk of 'keystroke' spy software stealing my account id and password, though I felt the probability of that happening was extremely remote. Like visiting some obscure star at the edge of the Universe.

Nonetheless, for those who wish to be especially secure in their account access, ETRADE offers customers the option of a 'secure digital key' ....

The two-factor authentication solution uses a small digital token device to provide customers with a random, six-digit code that changes every 60 seconds. The customer uses this unique code combined with his/her user ID and password to access E*TRADE accounts, preventing an unintended or unauthorized user to log into an account.
