My guess is that a worst case outcome of a phillips re-do would be to make Rambus patent coverage over SDRAM hard to enforce.

Actually - it the company gets a relatively clean bill of health (no unclean hands, no fraud, etc.), then even if Rambus lost coverage of SDRAM, (and even back royalties over SDRAM), I would think the road ahead covering DDR would still hold (because Rambus has lots more patents covering the DDR technologies.

SDRAM royalties (based on 0.75% royalty) probably represent about 5% of what Rambus is after.

DDR is the prize.

And if we could end all the legal stuff now, and give up SDRAM (back and forward) and win DDR (and all future variants)....we would all be happy campers.
