When this thing fell apart, some of us looked into trying to take control of the company by contacting the SEC, the TA (who, it turned out was also in on it), and a lawyer. No one would tell us what the legal way was to even contact other shareholders. The lawyer said it would cost $200k + in this kind of situation with no certainty of any kind of recovery at all.

One time I just declared some of my shares worthless on my tax form. I don't know if that was legal or not... it wasn't a huge tax loss. Ultimately the shares disappeared from my account. I am thinking there is a way for brokers to purge their accounts.
