Does IB allow you to have multiple accounts where you can buy in one account and short in another? Is that even legal?

Thanks TOB that's good confirmation. People on other boards here have reported some problems with TD so I would have to weigh the really GREAT benefits of not having to wait for the cash to settle, against the problems some have had.

Worth considering moving an account, if one is to trade frequently in the IRA.
