All drilling at kidd creek depends on the temperatures. It must remain below -20 daily for two weeks to solidfy the access road. The road to get in is 18 kilometers through the bush/swamp and so it takes a while to get the road built, usually 2 or 3 weeks. So, drilling could start at the end of January if the weather gets cold and stays cold.
My two cents:
The Debt Ceiling talks will begin soon after the Fiscal Cliff fiasco comes to some level of agreement. Google U.S. Debt Gold Price and you will see the price of Gold makes a steady upward climb as more dollars are printed. This 18 month consolidation period will most likely end soon with a surprising launch upward. Hopefully it will finally give our troubled Explor a stock price boost. Would be nice though if we hit the Kidd Creek Lottery! Come on 2013!!
0 degrees C is the freezing point of water, but if you have ever visited Timmins, you would know that this is bog, not just "water" and - 1 C will freeze water but to move a half ton drill rig across the bog requires THICK ice and - 1 C won't do the job. Sorry, I am hoping it drops to - 50 C as I own stock but facts are facts.
Yes, water does freeze at 9 C = 32 F, but as I remember back as a kid in the US upper midwest we could not wait until there was a week with nightly lows atound -10 to -20 F so the (deep) water in the old gravel pits had frozen thick enough to go ice skating. Of course we were much lighter than trucks and drill rigging. The further below the freezing point the faster heat is extracted from water, so the faster the depth of freeze increases. Held at -1 C water would eventually freeze into as thick of a layer, but at -20 C it will get there much faster. they all seem to show a brief warming beginning of next week, Weather Network then shows it getting to the KC sweat-spot after that.
