That's exactly it, the dichotomy between market and economy. The stock market is here to create the illusion the economy is AOK, as if multinational corporate America still reflects the US economy.
Which is why I expect next year to be very green as we push the feel good to the limit. As such, I've learnt to not let my convictions conflict with my trading.
Even bear markets make people money, so leaving cash on the side lines rarely an option IMO - unless you really can't check on your stocks.
