echos: We agree, that is exactly what I said if you read what I wrote. Eminent Domain done as originally created is not about capitalism. When it is abused, it can be as you say.

To me that is Govt gone haywire.

Business can not force the lady to sell her home.

The govt can.

Even with our media that could care less about these kinds of issues we have seen several stories like this in the last couple of years.

THe mayor that was forcing residents to sell their homes that didnt have garages so that larger homes that would generate more tax revs would replace them.
THis despite the fact that the mayors home didnt have a garage either.

I saw a snipit on 20/20 where a gentleman owned a 3rd generation auto repair shop in Arizona. THe govt was forcing him to shut it down because sprawl had made his out of the way shop an eyesore in the newly developed area.

This doesnt even take into consideration the increasing percentage of Govt owned land in the U.S.
The federal govt can take your land for just about any reason theyt want. Does an endangered species live on your property?

THis shift is not the result of capitalism gone haywire. It is the result of the erosion of property ownership rights and liberties in general.

IMO!
