First off, I love HW virtualization support. Over time it's going to spur more change in the industry than you can imagine.

I believe we'll see the Intel folk suddenly claiming that VT is technology you can't live without.

BUT...

All the arguments used against AMD64 will apply to VT, only moreso. For the window of opportunity Intel has before AMD's superior implementation is available,

Strike one: VT is unsupported by Microsoft. I.e. No OEM Workstation/Home/Office.

Strike two: VT is unsupported in Xeon, no server consolidation (where VT is needed.)

Having no support in server AND client, that leaves a VERY SMALL MARKET that will be interested in VT, the high-end DIY crowd...

Ooops; Strike three.
