your guess are all wrong IMO. They are on payroll. BOD might get compensation per meeting but it will be very minimal. Rik once told me way back that he likes working for Frank because he was frugal and thought that that was a big difference with Joe K and Frank K. The truth was that ANTS was burning so much cash back when the management were paying themselves millions per year. Any company is doomed to fail if you are paying millions no matter how disruptive the technology is.
I Know a korean company whose diet green tea was so higly in demand but the owners think they are already a milliionaire that they spend the companies money like there is no tom. Well guess what, 6 months later a new korean company came in and did the same thing they were doing and all of a sudden demand slowed a bit and they were bankrupt. It was a classic cash flow mismanagement. This was exactly what happened to ANTS and its past management. Rik knows this that is why he knew that, if you have a frugal leader who is willing to sacrifice until ANTS is fully establish with significant cash flow, your chances of succeeding is much higher. Rik will not make that same mistake happen again that is for sure. In the military, we have zero tolerance for stupid mistakes like that, because it could mean you live or die.
Again, Rik will follow Frank as a frugal CEO. Compensation should be comparable to the midwest standard compare to west coast. I doubt she is getting paid much because this is her first CFO title. A foot in the door sorth of thing. Prove your worth and Rik may give her a raise. haha.
