Aoe, Your theory about the NIH funding leaving with Carley is interesting because it could actually explain a lot of what has happened recently -


If the $5 mil NIH funding left along with Carley, that would put the final nail in the coffin for Cortex, and could thus explain the other BOD resignations (Letendre, Hyer) and the CFO's (Messinger) departure. Why bother sticking around if the company had lost the NIH funding and will soon be closing its doors?

It might also explain the Donoghue lawsuit filed against Cortex in September (see link below), since if Varney had agreed to the Pier merger without realizing that the NIH funding could disappear upon the departure of Carley, that could trigger a lawsuit -

Of course this 'Carley/NIH hypothesis' is pure speculation on our part, and probably isn't what has actually happened, but absent any updates or communication from Varney, all we can do is speculate. Well, at least the current mystery has provided us with one final bit of bio 'entertainment' from ole Cortex..
