Doesn't matter if gmail has GB of space...most email providers limit the number of emails to keep from filling up their servers with emails that are never checked...spam is a big problem out there. Many people have email accounts with gmail (or others) that they seldom if ever check, but are still active. I've got one, I never check. I needed it for something, signed up, got what I needed and never used again.
Now if anyone got emails thru, then the account exists. If it got full because BW didn't check it fast enough, they would be rejected. Although your scenario is possible, mine is probable.
