rj2 - I agree with you that the KDS has a niche. Using that word though implies little usage. Just so I am clear I see a very large market for the KDS in conjunction with processes like QL's - and growing. My thought has long been that powder is the better fuel versus pellets and you hit the nail squarely on the head. CTI and St-Malo (before them AGES) understand two primary advantages of powder: energy benefit of powder over pellet and transportation/storage. Powder wins in both categories. Regardless of the form biomass takes it still comes down to price competitiveness of the finished product. Where natural gas is easily delivered via pipeline biomass will almost always lose. Being on a pipeline is key to nat gas delivery, which means much of the world is open to other fuel sources. Oil and coal can be delivered relatively easily. So it would seem they are the primary competitors to biomass. So it becomes a game of pricing. Price will continue to expand in proportion to the world population, which in turn will make local biomass projects much more viable and competitive.
