This is a clear and convincing win for VHC, and this is about collecting future monies from Apple and all the rest of the infringers. Whether the jury said $700 million or $370 million for past damages...neither of those amounts is hurtful to the gigantic cash horde at Apple. It is all about what the future now holds for VHC. This was a big LOSS for Apple.
Apple having to fork over nearly $400 million for past infringement, possibly more with the new iPhone5 suit (with willful infringement) filed, is not an Apple win. Consider they also will be on the hook for each and every device sold in the future.
By your logic, Apple has lost over 40 times its own initial claim as to what damages should have been.
Seems that Apple won if they have to pay 50% of the initial claim.
