I buy my gas from BP or HESS they don't get there gas from the Middle East.
The money spent to put ethanol on every corner and mandate Vehicle compliance would create work for the Auto Workers and create huge demand for farmers, stimulate the economy. while we reduce our neds for Oil.
Then streamline water treatment plants, Military bases and Gov't buildings to Hydrogen Fuel Cells.
It can be done, but, not while were holding hands with the Saudi's.
Invest in America for job creation and increase internal cash flow.

I dont believe our involvement has fosetered this radical sect. I believe this radical sect has been a radical sect since the beginning of time and the times we live in with biological and WMD's means it has come time to deal with them while their aggression has become increasingly evident.

If by paying trillions of dollars to the middle east for oil means we have been screwing around there for a long time then i guess i agree with you, i also share your wish that we did not rely on them for oil.


It would be nice if the decent people in the middle east had an opportunity to assert their own independence and overthrow the dictators that rule them but it is not the same situation that we overcame when asserting our independence.


Once again we are not there because we feel a humanitarian duty to help liberate the people of the middle east (allthough that would be a worthy cause). We are there for our own survival and until people understand the level of hatred and the goals of the radicals then we will continue to debate ourselves and rail against leaders that are making decisions based on a long term view towards stability and security.

It is as if people still believe there has been a boogy-man created by the Govt in an effort to win support to go steal oil. I know many people believe this. It is not true. There are millions of people right now plotting and planning a way to destroy you and your family and until you understand that you will not be of the right frame of mind to make a decision as to the best way to avoid this.

We can debate until the cows come home whether or not Iraq was buying yellow cake in africa or whether or not Saddam Hussein was trying acquire WMD's in an effort to destroy us. We can beat ourselves up for a decade debating if maybe 20 U.N. resolutions would have finally been enough to force Iraq to comply with post war agreements or if it would have never happened. We can talk about the U.N. and European leaders actions and their reasons for not supporting an effort to oust Hussein. We can argue all the peripherals without ever getting to the real point and it will do not good at all but here is the way i see it.

Our inability or unwillingness to Hold Hussein to the post war agreements and his continued poking of his finger in our eye led to an increased enbolding of anti-american radical islam groups whom have come to the decision that apthetic americans are too fat dumb and lazy to do anything about it and this was only going to result in continued attacks that would have only increased in frequency and verocity. If you dont believe this then listen to the words of Bin Laden and other terror leaders that have continually stated that we do not have the appetite or the backbone to stand up to them and unfortunately in a large part they are correct. Most Americans dont. Most americans dont even know what kind of enemy they are facing. Most Americans believe these are the actions a few people and the size of opposition has been overstated. Can you imagine if this war required the kind of sacrifice required during WW 2. The average american has had to sacrifice nothing and still complains like a child.


Obviously this all opinion. I wish i believed i was wrong because then i would think it will all just go away. It will not. The only way this threat is going away is if we make it happen. The only way it is going to happen is to democratize the middle east. There has been huge progress made. Iraq will be domocratized. It will be a stronger country for it. It will be an example to the rest of the middle east. It will make fellow middle easterners desirous for the same. It will bring pressure on the rest of the fascist govts and they will implode one by one. We are already seeing evidence of this. The biggest problem and the reason Americans should be pissed and direct their anger where it belongs is the unwillingness of Europe and the U.N. to apply the same pressure and share the deisre to bring democracy to the middle east and create a safer environement for everyone.



Are you so sure you are right? Do you want to fight the terrorists from a reactionary point of view. Rush Fema to the sight of each attack and treat the symptoms of the disease or do want to innoculate the world and prevent the disease before it becomes a pandemic?
