CHAR CFO resigns

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Chaparral Resources Inc. (CHAR) said Thursday its
board named Charles Talbot chief financial officer and vice president of
finance, effective as of Oct. 1.

Talbot replaces Nigel Penney, who resigned his position upon completion of
his employment agreement, Chaparral Resources said in a Securities and Exchange
Commission filing.

Chaparral Resources didn't provide any other details in the filing about
Talbot or the terms of his employment.

According to the company's most recent annual report, filed in March, Penney
assumed the positions of chief financial officer and vice president of finance
in August 2004.
