Fuel prices going up slowly is passed on to the customers. It's when there's sudden 1-3 week spikes with deals already in place that they can run into some higher than expected fuel costs.

For example, if they seal a deal to ship products "next week" then suddenly fuel spikes they're already locked into the deal at the old cheaper fuel prices and take a hit.
