Interesting, better to lose half of your immune system then to die from CLL. This type of therapy is very dangerous but again risk/reward has to be done. Bone marrow transplant can completely cure this disease IF you survive the procedure and no complications occur later. I know of individuals who have undergone successfully a bone marrow transplant mainly because of close relative donor marrows minimize risk of complications. Very interesting therapy though, I can see it being tweaked to try to prevent total destruction of the b-cells. ie targeting a specific tumor antigen instead of cd19, or setting a self programmed death limit on the modified t-cells by interuppting teloramase activity.
