To quote The Bard: therein lies the rub.
The DOD most likely wouldn't place an order for 10,000 lasers from a company with little to no manufacturing capability. That is why the old agreement with GD was so important; they had a large manufacturing company to support them. On the front end.
The deal with CACi as I understand it, and as it has been explained and quoted here is for backend support. Logistics after the sale. If there isn't anything to actually sell, there isn't anything to support or maintain.
I would absolutely be asking how fast I will be getting my order but that is not the part CACi is helping with. If I was a military buyer i would be very concerned about the ability of a tiny business to deliver the goods. I am sure the army must do some sort of assessment of the production capabilities prior to a significant contract. It's not like there is a production line building these things as we speak, or is there?
As far as your question about confidentiality, I'm not sure what you mean. I said this wouldn't be classified because it is all already in the public domain. The simple fact that we are discussing it and LEI issues press releases discussing it would negate the possibility that it is classified product or there are classified contracts buying it. Look at some of the CACi SEC filings. They always have a line about "previously unannounced intelligence awards." They issue PRs with details (including dollars) about all of their army and DOD contracts.
My best guess: The next PR from LEI will not be an Army or DOD sale involving Caci. It will be another nondescript PR without sales numbers. Any PR from Caci will include real dollars and an actual customer.
